PASSED OUT,
CALLED OUT

YAOCHO BAR GROUP

JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE WASTE, WE SHOULDN'T WASTE IT!

We didn’t buy media. We used the problem as the media.

This idea starts with something you see every night in Tokyo – salarymen, students, people from all walks of life passed out on the street after drinking too much. Most people just step around them. It’s become part of the city’s wallpaper. That’s the problem.

So we flipped it.

The Sleeping Drunks Billboards turned those unconscious bodies into unmissable public service announcements.

No lectures.

No posters.

Just a piece of white tape, outlining the person on the pavement like a crime scene – and a sign that read: #NOMISUGI (“too drunk”).

The tone? Deadpan. Stark. Disarming.

We didn’t shame people – we mirrored the moment.

Quietly.

Visually.

Let the awkwardness do the work.

It was guerrilla, but with purpose. Hyperlocal, but instantly global.

People stopped, stared, and snapped photos. Social lit up.

It became a viral PSA, powered entirely by public behaviour.

And the brilliance? It cost almost nothing.

Real people. Real consequences. Real visibility.

It made a nightlife brand – Yaocho Bar Group – look like the only one in Tokyo that actually cared what happened after last call.

That’s not just smart creative.

That’s cultural empathy turned into street-level action.

The result? A D&AD Graphite Pencil for Creativity for Good.

And a rare case where the message didn’t interrupt the moment – it was the moment.
