Every year, the world’s creative elite throw down at D&AD. I’ve had my share of pencils – and my share of heartbreaks. But I’ve also had the rare privilege of designing the invite to the fight.
Three times, I’ve been invited to craft the promo campaign for D&AD itself – yes, the awards. Yes, for creatives. Yes, for people who will gleefully shred it on LinkedIn if it misses.
One favourite? The “See It” poster series. We took the iconic D&AD pencil, chopped it into abstract slices, and asked a simple question: Can you spot greatness?
The line – “For those who see it, entries now open” – was part call-to-action, part inside joke. The kind of thing you either get… or you’re not quite ready for the Pencil.
Quiet. Provocative. And yes, it picked up a few awards nods of its own.
